The way in which a consistent Chair engages with children and families must change.

They must be at the centre of the decision-making model, maintaining the integrity of an inquisitorial Children’s Hearing.

And they must:

  • work relationally alongside children and their families,
  • assess the information provided to the Panel,
  • uphold the rights of children and their families to be involved in decisions that affect them,
  • preside over a robust and clear decision-making process,
  • work collaboratively alongside others, and
  • have clear oversight of the order and the Child’s Plan.
