Conference Poster: NHP
Part of: Stories of Change Conference
About the poster
The House Project from NLP is built around young people's ability to leave care to take ownership, and to live connected and fulfilling lives.
The text of this poster reads as follows:
The House Project takes a ground-breaking approach through its commitment to young people leaving care to take ownership and to live connected and fulfilling lives. The House Project gives young people the skills, experiences and support to make a home and be part of a community and have a better future. It enables young people to develop a community of support, provides a good home to live in and gives control over their life, and ownership of their future.
Discovery
Young people talk about having hope, having some joy in their lives, feeling heard and respected ... and ... self-worth and self-confidence. That's the bit that comes out of it. It's the confidence to ... take that step into adulthood with a support system and feeling stronger individually.

Journey
I've managed to find somewhere and be a part of something that is the best part of life, which is friendship, which is love, which is hope, which is making the world a better place in our small way by making the passages through to adulthood from the care system that much better.

Change
The House Project approach has had a significant positive impact on young people supported through the LHP... We have every reason to believe these outcomes will be replicated in other local authorities should the framework be rolled out on a national level.
